The Company:

Our client is a world-leading provider of high capacity, ultra-efficient continuous cookers, batch cookers, slicers, and packers for various food processing applications.
They are known for their innovative spirit and customization of technology to meet customer needs and business goals – counting numerous global leaders in Food Manufacturing as key customers.
This is a full-time on-site role for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, base at their new purpose-built facility in Dandenong South, VIC. The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing high-capacity cooking equipment, utilizing machine design principles, mechanical engineering expertise, and computer-aided design (CAD) software. The role will involve working closely with the broader engineering and manufacturing teams to support CI, feedback to design, standardisation and more.

Role:

  • Work closely with the broader engineering and manufacturing teams to support the development and CI of processes.
  • Build on existing documentation to improve efficiency of design practises.
  • Approve designs from within the mechanical design/drafting team.
  • Take on product management responsibilities, become a master of your craft and begin to lead the design engineering team.
  • Work on occasional be-spoke equipment design, using calculations to meet stress demands of components.

Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • NER Certificate of Registration
  • Experience in Food & Beverage Machine Design industry
  • Experience in hygienic design for food, beverage or pharmaceutical
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Autodesk Inventor & Vault
  • AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Ability to read P&IDs
  • Familiar with AS4041 AS/NZS 4024:2019 – Safety of machinery
