A great chance to be part of a wildly different engineering sector whilst utilising controls and automation theory for motion control systems.
Our client is a private Melbourne-based company, developing a range of one-of-a-kind machinery for projects that capture the minds & hearts of audiences worldwide. This company contains a diverse & arty team of talented engineers, designers, technicians, and artisans, all working together to create fully integrated robotic designs. Their PDLC ranges from conceptual design and fabrication to production and installation, where their engineers become involved in out-of-the-box issues and apply a ’systems engineer’ approach to solving these problems, within a dynamic environment.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, and working closely with the wider engineering group, your responsibilities will include:
- Undertake a range of activities across the design & development of robotic applications, through to testing and commissioning control systems, while providing the accurate documentation.
- Utilising your knowledge and worked experience with developing control logic and control theory, to develop new applications and help resolve problems.
- Work collaboratively & in constant communication with other control systems engineers, and other engineering, technical and non-technical staff, to reach organisational goals.
- Ensure all engineering practices abide by OH&S standards, to maintain a safe and healthy working environment.
- Take initiative to improve processes and practices across control system engineering, which will be an addition to the wider design & build process.
- A rare chance of international travel for periods of time ranging 3-6 weeks. A really cool opportunity to work in different environments and experience different cultures.
Your background
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Tertiary degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering/Mechatronics Engineering and the necessary work experience across machine automation (i.e., factory machinery, assembly, robots etc.).
- Experience with Allen-Bradley, Omron and Ignition SCADA platform required.
- Demonstrable experience with motion control systems, including hydraulic, electrical and servo actuation required.
- Demonstrated understanding of Machine Functional Safety standards (i.e., AS4024).
- Strong communication, attention to detail and commitment to quality control measures.
- Experience with a range of industrial motion equipment including electric and hydraulic servo design highly regarded.
- Experience with design and implementation of SQL is highly desirable, but not necessary.
- Experience working with OOP principles, including commercial experience utilising programming languages like C# and python, is desirable, but not necessary.
What’s on offer?
The successful candidate will work in a stimulating and dynamic environment, designing and constructing the world’s best large-scale robotic systems in their headquarters across central Melbourne.
Have the chance to part of occasional world-wide on-site commissioning, working with external engineering teams across a global market.
