The Company

This organisation has a reputation for their high-quality products across the Australian market and have experienced significant growth the past 5 years. With this continued focus on innovation and new products there is a need for an Electrical and Automation Engineer to help deliver optimisations across their key food manufacturing facility in Laverton, VIC.  

The Role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring the maintenance/reliability and safe operation of all plant electrical, control and automation systems.
  • Deliver and driving process developments and improvements and taking the lead for control system maintenance/reliability related activities across the site.
  • Scoping and planning for the electrical & automation component of capital works and implementing process control, hardware and software improvements.
  • Providing technical support and fault-finding expertise across the site. 
  • Maintain and provide all required control system documentation including schematics, manuals, parameters and layouts.
  • Maintain sufficient spare parts and equipment to cover all critical areas and source prospective suppliers for obsolete equipment.

Your Background

  • Degree or trade qualified ideally in Mechatronics, Electrical or Automation Engineering.
  • Proven experience working with high-speed automation equipment, ideally within food, beverage or dairy industries. 
  • Demonstrated experience with PLC systems such as Siemens and / or Allen-Bradley Rockwell automation systems.
  • A sound understanding of Electrical Safety and regulatory requirements including best practice outcomes – Ideally previous maintenance experience working on HV/LV switch boards and control panels. 
  • High-level problem-solving skills.
  • Have strong communication and leadership skills, with a proven track record of managing teams of electricians. 
  • Strong organisation skills.
