Join an Australian industrial manufacturing leader as a Production Manager, to oversee a large complex manufacturing environment.
The Company
Our client is a leading manufacturer with a trusted brand, creating high quality products loved by Australian’s for years. They have built a strong reputation for their premium products which has contributed to their success, enabling them to continually invest and grow. With an enviable brand presence, they are seeking an experienced Production Manager to manage their pre assembly timber workshop producing over 15,000 componets per day.
The Role
Reporting to the Senior Manufacturing Manager, your responsibilities will include;
- Effectively manage the team using coaching, developing, delegation and recognition to ensure they have the capability to meet performance goals.
- Plan and review departmental operational costs, labour, overtime and waste management with a high focus on maximising yeilds.
- Drive a safety first culture and promote staff to identify and implement OH&S improvements.
- Contribute to plant improvement initiatives through active leadership and implementation of LEAN and CI methodologies.
- Implement and monitor strategies to reduce staff turnover and ensure labour cost base is productive, efficient, and cost competitive.
- Driving a safety-first culture, 5S and better machine uptime.
- Improve engagement and culture through leadership, training and being a good mentor for the production team.
Your Background
In order to be successful in this role you will have;
- Experience with leading and engaging a team, with the capabilities to create a collaborative and positive working environment – Pre assembly / Wood Workshop experience is highly desired.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience working in a wood or mechanical workshop environment – Experience utilising CNC machines is a must.
- Ability to coach and develop others, monitor and measure performance and provide direct feedback.
- Passionate about driving continuous improvement initiatives through implementing strategies – Experience with a wide range of CI tools such as 5S, kanban and Kaizan.
- Ability to analyse data, understanding production and team performance to improve efficiencies.
- Excellent communication with the ability to communicate cross functionally to build strong and effective relationships and influence key stakeholders.
- Strong analytical capability with the ability to solve problems.
