The Company

This leading global food business manufactures a large portfolio of iconic grocery brands. They have an outstanding culture and have been awarded as a ‘Great Place to Work’ for 5 years running. 

This role will be a 12 months fixed term contract, joining their R&D team at their plant in west Sydney. 

 
The Role

As the R&D Packaging Technician, you will be actively involved in packaging development to support the businesses’ growth and success through marketing strategy. The role reports to the R&D Manager, supporting the coordination and successful delivery of packaging projects from idea generation to launch. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Working across two major brands to validate and approve all packaging used on site 
  • Ensure packaging materials meets consumer, customer, manufacturing, and business needs
  • Apply packaging development principles to unlock innovative pack design and support the execution of packaging projects from concept-to-launch
  • Execute projects to drive innovation
  • Liaise with various stakeholders to drive performance, evaluate new technologies and identify cost saving opportunities
  • Conduct and coordinate functional testing including plant trials, lab testing, transportation tests, shelf-life studies including analysis of data, results and follow up recommendations and action plans
  • Collaborate with packaging suppliers to build relationships and partnership opportunities 

Your Background

To be successful in this role, you will have;

  • Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering, Packaging Science, Food Science or Packaging Diploma, degree or equivalent
  • Food manufacturing experience 
  • Understanding of APCO/ARL guideline
  • Demonstrated skills in managing numerous projects concurrently and adaptability
  • Results and detail focused
