Project Engineer
12 Month Fixed-Term Contract

Excellent opportunity to join a leading food manufacturing business, delivering capital projects and continuous improvement initiatives across a highly automated production facility.
The Company
Our client is a well-established and highly regarded manufacturer within the FMCG sector. With significant investment in manufacturing capability, automation, and site infrastructure, the business continues to focus on innovation, operational excellence, and sustainable growth. This role will support a broad range of capital projects, process improvements, and engineering initiatives aimed at enhancing plant performance, reliability, safety, and production capacity.
The Role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Manage the delivery of capital projects from concept through to commissioning, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
- Develop project scopes, business cases, cost estimates, and project schedules.
- Coordinate contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders throughout all phases of project execution.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing, packaging, utilities, and site infrastructure.
- Support equipment upgrades, automation projects, and plant expansion activities.
- Identify and implement process improvements to improve operational efficiency, reliability, and product quality.
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with safety, food manufacturing, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Provide technical support to production, maintenance, and operations teams.
- Monitor project performance, manage risks, and prepare regular progress reports for key stakeholders.
- Contribute to long-term asset management and site capital investment planning.
Your Background
To be successful in this role, you will possess the following skills and experience:
- Degree qualified in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline.
- Demonstrated 5+ years of experience delivering capital projects within a manufacturing, FMCG, food processing, pharmaceutical, or related industrial environment.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience working within highly automated manufacturing facilities will be highly regarded.
- Knowledge of engineering standards, contractor management, risk assessments, and safety systems.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills with the ability to influence across all levels of the business.
- A proactive and hands-on approach with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Experience with project budgeting, cost control, and contractor management.
