Boxed & Carcass Meat Trader

Victoria | Full Time | Premium Vertically Integrated Producer
Are you an experienced meat trader who understands the commercials behind balancing a carcass, building profitable customer relationships and identifying market opportunities?

We’re partnering with one of Australia’s most respected vertically integrated primary producers to recruit an experienced Boxed & Carcass Meat Trader. With an established premium brand, industry-leading sustainability credentials and significant investment in future growth, this is an outstanding opportunity to join a business that’s genuinely setting the benchmark within Australian protein production.

The business services customers across Victoria and is rapidly expanding its footprint interstate. Their customer base is built across wholesale meat distributors, independent butcher shops, foodservice operators and independent retailers, supplying both premium branded products and high-volume unbranded boxed meat programs.

This is a commercially focused trading role where you’ll have genuine influence over sales growth, customer development and trading outcomes while working alongside an experienced and highly respected team.

The OpportunityReporting into the commercial leadership team, you’ll be responsible for managing and growing an existing portfolio of customers while identifying new opportunities across the wholesale and independent meat sectors.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Trading boxed and carcass meat across wholesale, butcher, foodservice and independent retail channels.
  • Developing long-term relationships with wholesale meat distributors and independent butcher customers throughout Victoria.
  • Identifying profitable trading opportunities while ensuring optimal carcass utilisation and balanced sales across the full product range.
  • Working closely with production and supply teams to align customer demand with available livestock and inventory.
  • Negotiating pricing, volumes and supply agreements.
  • Expanding the customer base while growing existing accounts.
  • Contributing to the continued expansion of the business into new markets interstate.

About You:

We’re looking for someone who understands the commercial realities of meat trading and has an established network within the Victorian market.
Ideally you’ll bring:

  • Previous experience in boxed meat and/or carcass trading.
  • Strong understanding of carcass balancing and whole animal utilisation.
  • Existing relationships within wholesale meat distributors, independent butcher shops and related industry channels.
  • Excellent commercial negotiation and account management skills.
  • Strong technical knowledge of meat specifications, cuts and customer requirements.
  • The ability to identify opportunities and think commercially rather than simply process orders.

A trade qualification in butchery would be highly regarded, however it isn’t essential. We’re equally interested in speaking with experienced meat traders who possess exceptional technical knowledge and strong industry relationships.
