The Opportunity

Our client is a privately owned structural and civil engineering consultancy with a national presence across multiple major Australian cities. They have been commissioned on projects spanning luxury residential, high-rise, commercial, health, education, and community sectors.

Brisbane is next. And they need the right person to lead it.

The Role
Reporting directly to the Director, this is a hands-on, entrepreneurial position that blends technical delivery with business development. In the initial phase, you will be the face of the business in Queensland – simultaneously building the client base, winning work, and delivering projects.

This is not a role for someone who wants to sit behind a desk. It’s a role for someone who is energised by the challenge of building something from scratch, backed by the resources and reputation of an established national practice.

Day to day, you will be:

• Driving business development activity across the Brisbane and Queensland market (~50% of your time initially)
• Leveraging your existing industry relationships to generate leads and win new work
• Attending industry events and staying across market trends and emerging opportunities
• Delivering structural engineering design and documentation
• Conducting construction site inspections and quality assurance
• Preparing weekly business development and pipeline reports
• Working closely with interstate offices and senior leadership
• Building and mentoring a team as the office grows

About You
You are a qualified structural engineer who has grown beyond pure technical delivery. You’re commercially minded, well-networked in the Queensland construction and property industry, and energised by the prospect of owning a market.
You will bring:

• A degree in Structural or Civil Engineering and RPEQ registration (or eligibility)
• Significant experience in structural engineering, ideally across residential, commercial, or mixed-use building projects
• Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships — with developers, architects, and builders
• A track record of contributing to or leading business development activity
• The entrepreneurial mindset to operate as a sole practitioner in the early stages
• Existing networks across the Brisbane/Queensland property and construction market
