The Role
As the FSQ Manager, you’ll lead the Food Safety & Quality function for a large-scale manufacturing site, overseeing a team of 7. This role plays a pivotal part in driving site performance in line with globally recognised standards. As this is their main site in ANZ, the role will essentially have an influential remit across this area and will be globally facing also. Responsibilities include:
- Leading, coaching, and developing the FSQ team to meet strategic and operational goals
- Overseeing all food safety, compliance, and quality systems, including HACCP, GMP, and third-party certifications (FSSC, SQF etc.)
- Managing internal and external audits, ensuring site readiness and actioning corrective measures where required
- Driving site progress along a defined quality improvement roadmap—defining and meeting both short-term and long-term improvements
- Working closely with global stakeholders to align with corporate food safety standards
- Championing a culture of continuous improvement in sanitation, training, product quality, and compliance
- Investigating customer complaints and leading root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
- Supporting supplier compliance and coordinating supplier audits in collaboration with central teams
- Collaborating cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, EH&S, and other site departments
- Contributing to the Site Leadership Team and embedding quality objectives into broader site performance
Your Background
In order to be successful in this role, you will:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a quality leadership role within food manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMP, food safety systems, and third-party certifications
- A continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to execute against long-term roadmaps
- Exposure to working in or with global organisations and navigating stakeholders would be advantageous
- A hands-on leadership style with strong communication and people development skills
- Bachelor’s in Food Science & Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field
