A hands-on Data & Analytics Solution Architect contract role leading the technical design and migration of an enterprise data warehouse and reporting platform.

The Opportunity
We’re working with a large Australian enterprise delivering a major Data & Analytics transformation, including migration from legacy data warehouse technology to Microsoft Fabric and Power BI. This role suits a hands-on Solution Architect who has come from execution, understands modern data platforms deeply, and is comfortable owning complex migrations in a controlled enterprise environment.

The Role
Reporting into the Data & Analytics IT Sponsor, this role is responsible for defining and delivering the target-state Data & Analytics architecture while working closely with suppliers and internal teams. This is not an advisory role – it requires active technical contribution throughout design, build, testing, and cutover.

You will be responsible for:

• Defining the target-state Data & Analytics architecture on Microsoft Fabric
• Ensuring strict alignment with enterprise architecture standards
• Designing ingestion, transformation, semantic, and reporting layers
• Leading the migration from SAP BW to Microsoft Fabric, including historical data
• Ensuring data reconciliation, validation, and performance optimisation
• Translating legacy BW logic, calculations, and transformations accurately
• Rationalising and redesigning reports in Power BI
• Supporting UAT, business validation, and defect resolution
• Working hands-on with Fabric workspaces, pipelines, datasets, and models
• Challenging supplier designs and engaging in deep technical discussions
• Troubleshooting data and migration issues during delivery

Your Background
You’re a senior Data / Solution Architect with strong hands-on experience and the confidence to own technical outcomes.

What you’ll bring:

• Proven experience as a Data or Solution Architect in enterprise environments
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric and Power BI
• Experience delivering data warehouse migrations (SAP BW strongly preferred)
• Background in data modelling, semantic layers, and reporting performance
• Experience working in buyer-controlled or regulated enterprise platforms
• Ability to engage confidently with vendors and internal architecture teams
• Experience in M&A, carve-outs, or large-scale transformation programs is highly regarded.
