Leader Engineering firm looking to appoint a new GM to lead the next phase of growth for the business.

The Role

This is a business-critical role to take over the running of the business including all administration, operational management whilst developing initiatives to improve the business such as implementing a CRM, developing clear roles and accountability for the staff, implementing initiatives to reduce business costs and improve performance. This role exists to align leaders, drive execution, and ensure the business operates with clarity and momentum.
This is a full-time, high accountability role in a fast-moving environment. The success in this position requires strong availability during core hours and regular in-office collaboration with the leadership team. The key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the business through strong leadership, integration, and execution discipline, ensuring priorities are clear, owned, and delivered across departments.
  • Own the operating rhythm (priorities, meetings, reporting) to ensure teams execute against all responsibilities and goals.
  • Partner with the Managing Director to translate strategy into plans, resourcing, and measurable outcomes.
  • Monitor business performance using practical objectives and dashboards, identifying risks and opportunities early and driving corrective action.
  • Support the Managing Director with strategic initiatives, helping scope projects, coordinate delivery, and remove roadblocks.
  • Improve core business systems and processes (workflows, documentation, controls) to scale the organisation efficiently.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to capture opportunities that support the potential increase in revenue. Develop a clear pipeline of future projects and ensure the opportunities that are captured by the engineers are fed into the sales pipeline and communicated to the right people.
  • Scope and implement a CRM to capture all future revenue opportunities. 
  • Develop and implement data capture and improve reporting to help business decisions.
  • Manage the accountant and credit control activities to ensure all financial information are up-to-date and accurate. 
  • Develop employment contracts that are aligned and correct.
  • Put in place clear organisation structures and role accountability, including objectives.
  • Develop and lead training and development across the business.
  • Lead, manage and coach leaders and team members, setting clear expectations and lifting capability.

The Person

This is an exciting opportunity for the right person that wants to work in a very successful company that need phase of growth. The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in a senior operational / leadership role (GM/COO/Operations Manager), ideally within an environment with engineers.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams through growth and change, bringing structure, clear priorities, and strong execution discipline.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and commercial judgement.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex issues and drive alignment across teams and external partners.
  • Technology driven and experience, with an ability to develop and apply new ideas and a practical approach to adopting new tools, including a CRM to streamline workflows, improve reporting, and lift team productivity.
