Maintenance Fitter
Food Manufacturing (Melbourne) Location: Northern & South‑Eastern Suburbs (multiple sites)
Employment: Permanent – Full Time
Shifts: Day, Afternoon, and Night Shift available
Hours: 6am–2pm, 2pm–10pm, 10pm–6am (Monday–Friday)
Rates: From $52-$55/hr Dayshift, +15% Afternoon loading, +30% Night loading
Overtime: Regular weekly overtime available
A well‑established Australian food manufacturer with a strong reputation for safety, culture, and employee development is seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join their high‑volume production facility in Melbourne. The Role
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring plant reliability and minimising downtime across fast‑paced processing and packaging operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preventative and reactive maintenance on food processing and packaging machinery
- Mechanical fault finding and breakdown response across conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, pneumatics, and hydraulics
- Supporting production teams to maintain throughput and efficiency
- Ensuring all work complies with GMP, food safety, and OH&S requirements
- Completing maintenance documentation through CMMS systems
- Contributing to continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
About You To be successful, you will ideally bring:
- Trade qualification as a Maintenance Fitter / Mechanical Fitter
- Experience in food manufacturing, FMCG, or high‑speed production
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Exposure to packaging machinery and automated production lines
- A proactive, safety‑focused mindset and strong teamwork approach
