Maintenance Fitter – Permanent Night Shift | Bendigo Region $45–$50 per hour + 30% Night Shift Loading

Tuesday to Friday | 11:00pm – 7:00am

An excellent opportunity exists for an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join a leading industrial manufacturing operation in the Bendigo region. This is a hands-on role suited to a mechanically minded tradesperson who enjoys working independently, solving problems under pressure, and taking ownership of plant reliability during night operations.

Operating within a large-scale continuous manufacturing environment, you’ll be responsible for maintaining a diverse range of automated production equipment, conveying systems, material handling equipment, motors, gearboxes, pumps, rollers, hydraulic and pneumatic systems used in the manufacture of high-volume finished products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct preventative and breakdown maintenance across manufacturing and processing equipment
  • Diagnose and rectify mechanical faults to minimise downtime
  • Service, repair and overhaul plant machinery and production equipment
  • Maintain conveyors, drives, rollers, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Identify reliability improvements and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Complete maintenance work orders and documentation accurately
  • Liaise with production personnel to ensure operational performance targets are achieved
  • Maintain a strong commitment to safety, housekeeping and quality standards

About You To be successful in this position, you will possess:

  • Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Mechanical Fitter) or equivalent
  • Experience working within manufacturing, processing, packaging or other industrial environments
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting capability
  • Ability to confidently work independently and make sound maintenance decisions without direct supervision
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to safety and continuous improvement

Desirable Experience

  • Experience with CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems) such as MEX, SAP PM, Maximo, Pronto or similar
  • Experience maintaining automated production lines and material handling systems
  • Exposure to hydraulic and pneumatic equipment
  • Welding and fabrication experience
