Roster: 6am-2pm + alot of opportunioty for overtime during the week and weekends!

Are you an experienced Maintenance Fitter/Leading Hand with strong leadership skills looking for the next step in your career? Our client, a leading FMCG manufacturer based in Altona North, is seeking a Leading Hand Maintenance Fitter to join their team and support the smooth running of their high speed production facility.

About the Role As the Leading Hand Maintenance Fitter, you will play a hands-on role while overseeing daily maintenance activities. Working closely with the Maintenance Supervisor, you’ll coordinate and support a small team of fitters to ensure the plant runs safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of maintenance fitters on shift
• Carry out preventative and breakdown maintenance on production equipment
• Assist with planning, scheduling, and allocation of daily tasks
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment in a fast paced FMCG environment
• Maintain a strong focus on safety, compliance, and continuous improvement
• Liaise with production and engineering teams to minimise downtime and improve performance

Skills & Experience

• Trade qualified Maintenance Fitter (Certificate III or equivalent)
• Proven experience in the FMCG or food manufacturing sector (essential)
• Leadership experience (leading hand, senior fitter, or mentoring peers)
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and fault finding skills
• Ability to prioritise, delegate, and communicate effectively
