Immediate start, 6-month contract Purchasing Specialist. Hands-on role supporting sourcing, inventory & supplier management.

The Company
 
We are partnering with a well-established Australian manufacturer with a strong presence across ANZ. Known for producing high-quality products and continuously investing in their operations, they are seeking an experienced Purchasing Specialist to join their team on an initial 6-month contract, with the possibility of extension.

This role has become available to support the team during a period of leave and will play a key role in keeping procurement and inventory functions running smoothly within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
 
The Role
 
Reporting into the Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for supporting day-to-day procurement activities, ensuring materials are available to meet production demands while maintaining cost and supplier performance targets.

  • Managing purchasing and inventory processes to support production schedules
  • Assisting with sourcing activities to drive cost efficiencies and quality outcomes
  • Coordinating RFQs, pricing reviews, and supplier negotiations
  • Monitoring supplier performance against agreed KPIs and service levels
  • Supporting reporting across purchasing and inventory metrics
  • Liaising with internal teams to ensure accurate system data and stock availability
  • Working across ERP/MRP systems (including D365) for procurement and inventory management
  • Providing general support across the broader purchasing function

 
Your Background
 

  • Experience in purchasing, procurement, or inventory coordination
  • Exposure to a manufacturing or operational environment (preferred)
  • Strong systems capability, ideally with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar ERP systems
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and data analysis
  • Solid commercial awareness and supplier management skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
  • A proactive, adaptable mindset with a hands-on approach
