The Role
As the Quality Engineer, you’ll report into the Site Quality Manager and play a key role in ensuring Food Safety & Quality performance across a large and complex manufcturing site. This role combines systems engineering with quality ownership, driving complaint reduction, continuous improvement, and audit readiness. Responsibilities include:
- Own food safety and quality systems and processes across operations and production.
- Ensure compliance with HACCP, regulatory and third party standards, as well as internal standards and quality systems.
- Analyse consumer complaint data, lead root cause investigations, and drive corrective actions.
- Work closely with operations and engineering teams to identify issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Engage in proactive problem-solving and process optimisation, to support the site in meeting key quality and consumer complaint KPIs.
- Conduct HACCP reviews, COPs, and internal audits to ensure compliance and audit readiness.
- Apply centre-lining techniques to optimise production performance and reduce variation.
- Support training and capability building for operators and FSQ team members.
- Partner with engineering, operations, and suppliers to deliver continuous improvement projects.
Your Background
In order to be successful in this role, you will:
- Degree qualification in Engineering Food Science, Technology or a related discipline.
- 3–5 years’ experience in a Quality role within food manufacturing (high-risk FMCG highly regarded).
- Strong knowledge of HACCP, ISO standards, and regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse data, lead investigations, and drive complaint reduction.
- Experience with centre-lining, process capability, and continuous improvement tools.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence across teams.
- Proactive, detail-oriented mindset with the confidence to work autonomously and take ownership.
