The Company
Our client is a global industrial manufacturing business that is undergoing a strategic and significant capital investment that will not only maintain but further grow their already dominant market leading position. To deliver this we are seeking a Senior Project Manager on a Fixed Term Contract through to mid-2027, this role will be the internal resource responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of this major expansion at their Sydney site. This is a $100M+ investment which will see a new facility being built and is planned to be operational by the end of 2026. Reporting into executive leadership group this is a highly visible role and will need to be engage, manage and influence broadly across the organisation..
The Role
Reporting into the executive leadership team this be a highly visible role and will need to engage, manage and influence broadly across the organisation along with the below responsibilities:
- Deliver the Project safely, on time, on budget and to specification, meeting business requirements.
- Engage all stakeholders through the project lifecycle and ensure effective communication as the project is implemented
- Engage project team / steering committee ensuring regular and clear communication on project updates, issues and challenges are communicated.
- Provide project and engineering support to supply chain/operations ensuring project planning, project implementation, contractor management, commissioning and training.
- Become subject matter expert in plant design, compliance with building council regulations and environmental best practice.
- Negotiation and management of contracts for the supply of equipment and services. Working with legal and procurement support to draft project-specific contracts to mitigate risk.
- Follow internal systems and best practice project management methodologies to execute projects with excellence, meeting time, quality and cost targets.
- Manage the capital expenditure to ensure timely completion within agreed budgetary guidelines.
Your Background
This is a business critical and senior role responsible for the organisations most significant capital investment so will require extensive experience including:
- Appropriate qualifications in Engineering, project management or related fields.
- Minimum 10 years related work experience in project management within manufacturing / mining industry, including all aspects of process development and execution.
- Demonstrated experience in leading, developing and empowering a team to deliver successful project outcomes on major greenfield plant builds or major brownfield plant expansions.
- Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
- Ability to manage shifting priorities of a fast-paced environment and conflicting demands and timelines through analytical problem-solving capabilities.
- Commercially astute with a demonstrated understanding of financial management and the procurement process.
- Ability to influence – energetic, persuasive, encouraging, and motivating across a wide variety of stakeholders, including senior management, clients, suppliers and other functions.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to make evidence based decisions.
