Hands on Quality Manager role in food manufacturing. Lead quality, food safety and technical capability across a key site.

The Company

This is an opportunity to join a well-established food manufacturing business with a strong national presence and producing a diverse range of products for major customers across retail and food service. The site has a strong focus on quality, food safety and operational excellence, with ongoing investment in people, process improvement and technology. 

The Role

This is a hands-on, site-based leadership role suited to someone who enjoys being close to production, working directly with operations and leading from the front. The role will partner closely with key site stakeholders and the national technical team to ensure products are manufactured to the highest standards of quality, food safety and customer compliance. Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and develop the site quality team
  • Drive quality and food safety culture across the site
  • Maintain site certification, audit readiness and compliance standards
  • Oversee the implementation and management of the Quality and Food Safety Management System
  • Provide technical advice across raw materials, production, warehousing and distribution
  • Lead investigations, root cause analysis and sustainable corrective actions
  • Partner with operations to resolve quality issues quickly and effectively
  • Support NPD trials, first productions and new product introductions
  • Manage raw material, packaging and supplier quality requirements
  • Monitor site performance and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Ensure relevant food safety regulations and customer requirements are implemented accurately
  • Work closely with national technical peers to drive quality and food safety culture across the business 

Your Background

In order to be successful in this role, you will:

  • Experience in a senior or leadership QA role
  • Strong understanding of HACCP and food safety systems
  • Exposure to high-care or RTE manufacturing
  • Experience working with major retailer/customer standards
  • Strong audit preparation and audit management experience
  • Ability to lead, coach and develop quality teams
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach to quality issues
  • Tertiary qualifications in Food Technology, Science or a related discipline
