This is a critical role responsible for leading and coordinating all maintenance activities across the orchard, ensuring that machinery, vehicles, equipment, and infrastructure are kept to the highest standards of safety and performance.

An industry-leading agricultural organisation is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to join the team based in Swan Hill. This is a critical role responsible for leading and coordinating all maintenance activities across the orchard, ensuring that machinery, vehicles, equipment, and infrastructure are kept to the highest standards of safety and performance.

The Role

Reporting to the Farm Manager your responsibilities will include:

  • Perform and oversee routine servicing, repairs, and maintenance in line with service schedules, manufacturer guidelines, Australian Standards, regulatory requirements, and company procedures.
  • Ensure all machinery, plant, and vehicles operate safely and efficiently to minimise downtime and optimise performance.
  • Identify, report, and promptly address unsafe equipment or infrastructure, escalating issues where required.
  • Oversee daily pre-start inspection processes, ensuring all operators complete required checks before commencing work.
  • Monitor equipment condition and schedule preventative maintenance to avoid breakdowns.
  • Ensure availability of tools, spare parts, and maintenance resources to support operations.
  • During harvest periods, ensure all harvesting machinery is regularly serviced to maintain continuous operation.
  • Support the Farm Manager in managing the maintenance budget.
  • Oversee rostering, payroll inputs, and workforce planning to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Comply with all workplace health and safety (OHS) requirements and follow reasonable instructions.

Your Background

  • Relevant trade qualification in mechanical, electrical, or agricultural engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience in maintenance management within an agricultural or horticultural environment.
  • Current driver’s licence.
  • Strong knowledge of horticultural machinery, irrigation systems, and farm infrastructure.
  • Solid understanding of horticultural production and maintenance best practices.
  • Strong communication, planning, and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.
