Temporary to permanent opportunity for an experienced Safety Leader – Melbourne’s eastern suburbs – Manufacturing

The Company

This organisaion is a well-established Australian-owned industrial manufacturer. With a long-standing presence in the market, they supply customers across a diverse range of industrial sectors and are committed to maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and environmental performance.

They are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to join the team in a temporary-to-permanent opportunity. This is a stand-alone role, offering the autonomy to lead the site’s safety function while partnering closely with operational leaders to drive a positive safety culture and continuous improvement.

The Role

As the site’s Safety subject matter expert, you’ll provide both strategic direction and hands-on operational support, ensuring compliance while embedding best practice across the business.

This role is ideal for an experienced safety professional who enjoys working closely with operations, influencing stakeholders and making a genuine impact within a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and manage all Health & Safety activities across the site.
  • Drive a proactive safety culture through coaching, engagement and leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian WHS legislation, environmental requirements and company standards.
  • Manage all aspects of Dangerous Goods, including storage, handling, transport and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead risk assessments, incident investigations, corrective actions and internal audits.
  • Deliver HSE training and provide coaching to leaders and employees.
  • Partner with operational leaders to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and risk reduction.


Your Background

  • Proven experience in an Safety leadership role within manufacturing, industrial, engineering, chemicals or another high-risk environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing Dangerous Goods and ensuring legislative compliance.
  • Confident influencing and building relationships across all levels of an organisation.
  • Hands-on, pragmatic approach with the ability to balance strategic thinking with operational delivery.
